In late November I performed at a birthday party for a 2 year old that had been attending my regular music classes. I arrived early and had time to chat it up with the mom. Right before guests began to arrive she put on this gorgeous black sweater. If it felt anything like it looked, then it must have felt like she was wrapped in a soft, warm, blanket.
I asked the mom where she got the sweater and proceeded to venture over to the shop later that week. I found the sweater and then found the price tag. Figures. Later that day I relayed all of these actions to Joe and basically never gave the heavenly sweater another thought.
Fast forward to Christmas morning. I find I have several packages under the tree and only know the contents of one (a new Ukulele!) So you can imagine my surprise when upon opening one of the boxes under the tree I discover Joe has seen fit to bless me with THE sweater.
The best part of this story are all the little steps Joe took in locating and then purchasing this gift. First, he had to go in to my email account and find the address of this mom who hired me for her daughter’s party. Then he emailed her to find out the location and exact description of the sweater. He called the shop and they said they had one sweater left in my size. Joe asked them to hold it, made sure the kids were well supervised, hopped on his bike, and zoomed over to the store.
And I was right. It feels like I am wrapped in a soft, warm blanket every time it adorns my body.
Baby, I love it. Thank you.

I’ve seen that sweater on you, and couldn’t tell you fast enough how pretty it is. That Joe is a good egg.

Hi Laura!
We were in club together at ACU, and I’ve read your blog for awhile now. I’m not sure why, but I felt compelled to finally leave a comment on this post. Maybe to affirm that when your guy goes through a few extra hoops for an act of love it really does mean even more. Mine was when my guy tucked away some cash every week for several months to buy a gift for me. That meant even more than the gift to know he had the forethought.
Love your blog!
