My City Kids

April 27, 2008 · 3 Comments

We had a good 30 hours away from the city. My children, however, are such city kids. Sophia wanted nothing to do with all the bugs and Ira h-a-t-e-d the grass, the bugs, well, basically everything about the place. It was rather comical how many times he made the sign for “car” and said “go, yeah?” at the same time.

The kids did have fun running around in their underwear (not Ira), pulling each other around in the wagon and basically just being able to go in and out as they please. In Brooklyn, once you’re in, you’re in. No back and forth, in and out.

The trip was fun for me as I was able to have both kids on my own for the first time and I believe it was refreshing for Joe as well. He was able to be in the apartment all by himself for the first time in a long time. Since Ira has been so sick, he has spent most of his time inside, in our living room. Therefore, he was always around. To have the apartment all to himself was so nice, he let me experience it a bit for myself on Saturday morning. Joe took the kids and the dog to the park a couple of times so that I could enjoy the quiet for myself. What a good man…

so glad that you had a chance to escape the city with the kids — as Ira is able to be more mobile, I bet he starts to be all boy - bugs, dirt and all!

Ira was a champion in my book!! He came a long way from beginning to end - as evidenced by that smile SURROUNDED by GRASS. (Ok, I know he was on a towel. Still.)

Love the picture of Roan and Sophia - those kids were a blast. I would travel with you anytime. At some point I will also loose my penchant to ask Roan if he is ok every 3 minutes in the car, as well…….
